Biography
Early life
Reid was born and raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey, the daughter of Donna and Tom Reid, both of whom are teachers and day-care center owners. She attended Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School and subsequently Ramapo High School and graduated from alternative high school Barnstable Academy. Both high schools were in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey; Barnstable is now in Oakland. Reid has twin younger siblings Colleen and Patrick and a brother Tom.1
Career
Reid began her career at the age of six years in 1982 on the game show Child's Play. As a child she had roles in a number of commercials for McDonald's, Crayola, and Jell-O. She grew up in New York City suburbs, and attended the Professional Children's School along with such celebrities as Christina Ricci, Ben Taylor, Jerry O'Connell, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Macaulay Culkin.2 Although her break-through role was in American Pie in 1999, followers of the 1998 cult film The Big Lebowski already knew her as Bunnie Lebowski. Reid spent the late 1990s appearing more often on the cover of tabloid magazines than on screen. Her extroverted social life soon gave her a reputation as a party girl; in fact, U.S. magazine In Touch Weekly, recently voted Reid "top party animal". She spoofed that image with her role on the N.B.C. comedy-drama Scrubs as Danni Sullivan, main character J.D.'s promiscuous sweet-heart.
During summer 2005, she was busy shooting Incubus in Romania at an assortment of clubs with Bucharest's local socialites. Taradise, her half-hour television show on the E! network, premiered in September 2005; it was canceled the following month. The show was an up-dated incarnation of E!'s well-known series Wild On, in which a celebrity host traveled to exotic places to party. In January 2007, Reid filmed a commercial with Daniel Conn for Dodo, an Australian budget telephone and Internet provider. Reid appeared in the September 2007 issue of FHM magazine.
Personal life
Reid was linked with Carson Daly after he made a cameo appearance in Josie and the Pussycats, in which Reid played the Pussycat Melody. In June 2001, Reid and Daly broke off their engagement.3 She previously had courted Russian hockey star Sergei Fedorov. In the late 1990s she courted actor Steve Burton and still is close to him and his family.4 She briefly dated football players Tom Brady, Jeremy Shockey,5 Kyle Boller, Kevin Mawae, tennis player Mark Philippoussis.6
On the night of November 4, 2004, Reid was embarrassed at a widely publicized photograph shoot at Puff Daddy's thirty-fifth birth-day party at Cipriani's Restaurant in New York City, when her dress fell, exposing her left breast. Photographs of Reid having larger, perkier breasts than before had been circulating the Internet for several months before the incident, igniting rumors of Reid having undergone breast augmentation. Scar tissue was visible around Reid's nipple, confirming rumors of the implants. The photographs were widely distributed. In August 2005, she publicly admitted getting breast augmentation surgery.citation needed In October 2006, she admitted in an interview with Us Weekly that she also had liposuction.7 In the interview she also discusses how her plastic surgery "went wrong," and also explains why she decided to have plastic surgery done, saying that her breasts were uneven and that she had saggy skin. In the same interview, Reid's new plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Svehlak, reported that he performed a procedure called a doughnut mastopexy to correct her original augmentation.
On New Year's Eve 2006, at a large celebration in Chicago, Reid made several numerical errors in hosting the minute-long count-down for the year. A video of the incident circled the Internet.8
Reports surfaced in October 2007 that she had been hospitalised at the Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center as a result of alcohol abuse. Reid has denied the reports, insisting, "I'm fine."9 Reid was reported to have a thinner appearance in November and December 2007. 10
Tara has also had negative contact with the bands Glassjaw and Head Automatica (who have the same lead singer, Daryl Palumbo). It was rumoured that Tara attended the Grammy Awards and said she didn't like Glassjaw's music, and didn't realise the person she said it to was a close friend of the band and that the band were nominated for an award.citation needed Since then Head Automatica released the B-Side album Tokio Decadence with a song titled Tara Reid is a Whore.citation needed
