D'Juan Hart, better known by his stage name Young Dro is an American rapper from Atlanta, Georgia and a protégé of T.I.. He performed as Dro from 2000 until he signed to T.I.'s label in 2006, when he became known as Young Dro.
Biography
Hart was born in the Bankhead neighborhood of western Atlanta. Chris "Daddy Mack" Smith, one half of rap duo Kris Kross, was one of his best friends and inspired him to pursue a rap career. In 2000, Hart signed to Tight IV Life Records and released an album I Got That Dro under the stage name Dro. He signed to T.I.'s label Grand Hustle Records, an imprint of Atlantic Records, in 2006 and became Young Dro. "Shoulder Lean" was Young Dro's debut single under Grand Hustle; its video was heavily rotated on BET and MTV2, and its ringtone sold over 500,000 copies. Young Dro's major label debut Best Thang Smokin' was released in August 2006.1 "Shoulder Lean" peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and topped the Hot Rap Tracks chart. The next single was "Rubberband Banks", which peaked at #23 on the rap chart.2
